- Description
- Major highways and rural roads of New South Wales pass through many areas where deeply weathered Tertiary basalts predominate. Although basalts are renowned for deep weathering and producing stony regoliths, the nature of the rockfall hazard in such situations is poorly characterized. This paper presents the findings of a survey of the rockfall characteristics on natural slopes derived from basalt rock. Starting from the execution of real scale full tests carried out in a two natural slopes derived from basalt rock, the rock fall motion characteristics have been observed and analyzed.
